Running out of load is one thing. Watching someone you care about run out — a parent in the province, a kid at school, a partner whose data died mid-conversation — is another. That is exactly what Pasaload is for: it lets you pass a slice of your own Smart credit, promo or data straight to another number in seconds, with no app download and no trip to a sari-sari store.
This guide covers every working method in 2026 — SMS, the Smart App, and the SIM Toolkit menu — plus the fees, limits and validity rules that trip people up, and the honest answer to the question most articles get wrong: which networks you can actually reach.
What is Smart Pasaload and is it still available?
Yes, Smart Pasaload is alive and working in 2026. This matters, because its biggest competitor is not: Globe and TM shut down their Share-A-Load service on 1 December 2022, which is why so much outdated advice about “sharing load between networks” no longer applies.
Pasaload is Smart’s load-transfer service. It lets any Smart Prepaid, TNT or Smart Bro Prepaid subscriber send part of their balance to another subscriber on the same network family. Smart Postpaid and Smart Infinity subscribers can also send load, with their own separate rules that we cover below.
Three things travel over Pasaload:
- Regular load — plain peso credit, from as little as ₱2.
- Promos (Pasa-Promo) — you buy a promo directly for someone else’s number.
- Data (PasaData) — you share megabytes from an eligible GIGA or All Data promo.
Every successful transaction costs the sender a flat ₱1 fee, on top of whatever you send.
How to pasaload Smart via text: the classic method
Texting shortcode 808 is the original method and still the most reliable one. It needs no internet connection, no app, and works on any handset — including a basic feature phone.
How to transfer load from Smart to Smart for prepaid users
- Open your messaging app and start a new message.
- Type
PASALOAD <space> 11-digit number <space> amount
Example:PASALOAD 09181234567 20 - Send it to 808.
- You will receive a confirmation message. Reply YES to push the transfer through.
- Both you and the recipient get a confirmation text once it lands.
Two details worth knowing. First, prepaid users can skip the keyword entirely and just text 09181234567 20 to 808 — the number and amount alone are enough. Second, you only have 15 minutes to reply YES. After that the transaction is cancelled and you have to start over.
Before you send, make sure your balance covers both the amount and the ₱1 fee. Sending ₱20 costs you ₱21.
Step-by-step guide for Smart postpaid subscribers
Smart Postpaid, Smart Signature and Smart Infinity subscribers can pasaload too, and the load they send is charged to their monthly bill rather than a prepaid balance. The steps are the same with one difference: postpaid users must include the PASALOAD keyword — the shorthand version does not work.
Text PASALOAD 09181234567 100 to 808 and reply YES to confirm.
Postpaid transfers are limited to these denominations: ₱2, ₱5, ₱10, ₱15, ₱20, ₱30, ₱100, ₱200 and ₱500. The ₱1 charge appears on your bill alongside your Monthly Service Fee.
How to transfer load to another number: modern alternatives
Using the Smart App (formerly GigaLife) for easy load sharing
If you would rather tap than type, use the Smart App. Note the name change: the app many people still call GigaLife was rebranded to the Smart App back in 2023. It is the same app, and it now serves Smart Prepaid, Smart Signature, Smart Infinity, Smart Bro, TNT and PLDT Home Prepaid WiFi users.
- Open the Smart App and log in with the number you are sending from.
- Tap the Pasa tab at the bottom of the dashboard.
- Under Send to, enter or pick the recipient’s number, then tap Continue.
- Choose what you are sending — Pasa Load, Pasa Promo or Pasa Data.
- Enter the amount and tap Confirm.
The app’s advantage is that you can save recipients, see your history, and share promos and data without memorising a single keyword.
Can you pasaload Smart using *123#?
This one deserves a straight answer, because a lot of guides get it wrong.
Smart’s official Pasaload documentation covers SMS to 808 and the Smart App — not *123#. The *123# menu is widely repeated online as a Pasaload route, but it is primarily TNT’s self-service menu, and on many Smart SIMs it will not show a Pasaload option at all.
If you want a menu instead of a typed command, the reliable non-app route is your phone’s SIM Toolkit:
- Open the SIM Toolkit app (sometimes listed as “Smart Menu” or “SIM Services”).
- Select Load, then PasaLoad.
- Enter the recipient’s number and the amount, then confirm with YES.
If *123# does work on your SIM, nothing is lost by trying. But if the menu comes back empty, that is expected — fall back to 808 or the app rather than assuming your line is broken.
Pasaload to other networks: what you need to know
Here is the single most important rule of Pasaload: it is an intra-network service. Load never crosses from one telco to another.
| Send from Smart to… | Possible? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Smart | ✅ Yes | Same network |
| TNT | ✅ Yes | Same PLDT group, same 808 shortcode |
| Smart Bro Prepaid | ✅ Yes | Same network |
| Sun | ✅ Yes | Sun numbers are now Smart Prepaid numbers |
| Globe / TM | ❌ No | Separate telco and billing system |
| DITO | ❌ No | Separate telco and billing system |
How to pasaload Smart to TNT
This works perfectly, and it is the most common cross-brand transfer in the country. Smart and TNT both sit inside the PLDT group and share the same Pasaload infrastructure, so there is no special syntax and no extra charge.
Text PASALOAD 09301234567 30 to 808 and reply YES — exactly as you would to a Smart number. The same applies in reverse, and to Smart Bro Prepaid numbers.
Can you pasaload from Smart to Globe or TM?
No. There is no code, keyword or workaround that moves load from a Smart balance to a Globe or TM number. Smart and Globe run entirely separate billing systems, and Pasaload was never built to cross between them.
The confusion usually comes from Globe’s old Share-A-Load service — but that only ever worked Globe-to-Globe and Globe-to-TM, and it was discontinued on 1 December 2022 anyway. If a website promises you a Smart-to-Globe pasaload code, it is either outdated or simply wrong.
So what do you do when the person who needs load is on Globe, TM or DITO? You top their number up directly instead of trying to transfer from your own balance. doctorSIM lets you send load to any Philippine network — Smart, TNT, Globe, TM, DITO and Sun — from anywhere in the world, paying by card, PayPal or Apple Pay. It is the one route that genuinely crosses networks, and it is especially useful if you are abroad and sending load home.
Transferring load credits from Smart to Sun
Good news, and a bit of history that clears up years of confusion: the Sun Cellular brand no longer exists.
Sun Prepaid was merged and rebranded into Smart Prepaid on 21 October 2020, and Sun Postpaid became Smart Signature on 25 April 2022. Subscribers kept their numbers and SIMs, but the network behind them is now simply Smart.
In practice this means a Pasaload to a Sun number is just a normal Smart-to-Smart transfer. Use the standard command to 808 — no special keyword required.
Beyond regular load: sharing promos and data
Passing peso credit is only part of what Pasaload does. You can also buy someone a promo outright, or hand over your leftover megabytes.
How to use Pasa-Promo for Smart subscribers
Pasa-Promo lets you register a promo directly onto someone else’s number, paid from your balance. It is often better value than sending raw load, because the recipient gets the full package instead of credit they still have to convert.
The syntax swaps the amount for the promo keyword:
PASALOAD <space> 11-digit number <space> promo keyword → send to 808
For example, PASALOAD 09181234567 GIGA99 registers that promo on your recipient’s line. Reply YES to confirm, and the ₱1 fee plus the promo price come out of your balance. Text, call and data promos are all supported.
One tip: confirm the exact keyword before sending. Smart retires and renames promos regularly, and a keyword that no longer exists will simply fail.
Sharing mobile data with PasaData
PasaData is the most underrated feature here. Instead of load, you pass megabytes from a data promo you are already subscribed to.
The command is:
PASADATA <space> 11-digit number <space> amount in MB → send to 808
Example: PASADATA 09181234567 50MB
The rules that matter:
- You must be subscribed to an eligible GIGA or All Data promo that includes shareable data.
- The minimum share is 50 MB.
- A ₱1 fee applies per successful transaction.
- Shared data is valid for 24 hours, regardless of how much you send.
That 24-hour window is the catch most people miss. Do not pass 2 GB to someone who only needs it next week — it will expire. Send data when the recipient is ready to use it, and it works beautifully.
Key pasaload rules: fees, limits and validity
Transaction fees and service charges
Every successful Pasaload, Pasa-Promo and PasaData transaction costs the sender ₱1. The recipient pays nothing. The fee is flat — it is the same ₱1 whether you send ₱2 or ₱500 — and it is charged on top of the amount transferred. Failed transactions are not charged.
Minimum and maximum load amounts you can share
The minimum is ₱2. Prepaid transfers by SMS are generally capped at ₱200 per transaction, while the Smart App allows larger single transfers. Postpaid lines are restricted to the fixed denominations listed earlier, up to ₱500.
Because these caps are adjusted from time to time and can vary by SIM and plan, treat them as a guide — if a transfer bounces on the amount, try splitting it into two smaller sends.
How long is the shared load valid?
Shared load carries its own validity period, tied to the amount sent. This catches people out constantly: send someone ₱5 and it is gone in three days whether they used it or not.
| Amount sent | Validity |
|---|---|
| ₱2 – ₱10 | 3 days |
| ₱15 – ₱30 | 15 days |
| ₱60 – ₱100 | 30 days |
| ₱200 | 60 days |
The practical lesson: bigger transfers last longer. If you are supporting someone regularly, one ₱100 transfer (30 days) is far more useful than ten ₱10 transfers (3 days each). If you would rather send a larger, longer-lasting amount without draining your own line, you can top up a Smart number directly with doctorSIM from ₱100 upward, and the credit lands as a normal reload.
Understanding the pasaload cap for postpaid lines
Postpaid subscribers have a monthly ceiling on how much load they can pass on, introduced to curb fraud and abuse:
| Monthly Service Fee (MSF) | Monthly pasaload cap |
|---|---|
| ₱1,200 or below | ₱300 |
| Above ₱1,200 | ₱500 |
Two things to remember: the cap resets automatically on the 1st of every month, and Smart Freedom Plan subscribers cannot use Pasaload at all. If you are on Freedom Plan, the SMS will fail no matter what you do — that is by design, not a fault.
Troubleshooting common pasaload errors
When a Pasaload fails, it is almost always one of these:
“Insufficient balance” — remember the ₱1 fee. To send ₱20 you need ₱21. This is the single most common cause of a failed transfer.
Nothing happens after you text 808 — you probably missed the confirmation. Pasaload is a two-step process, and the YES reply expires after 15 minutes. Send the command again and reply promptly.
“Invalid number” or the transfer bounces — check the format. Use the full 11-digit local number starting with 09 (09181234567), not the +63 international format, and no spaces or dashes. Then confirm the recipient is actually on Smart, TNT, Smart Bro or a legacy Sun number — a Globe, TM or DITO number will always fail.
The promo keyword is rejected — Smart retires promos often. Verify the current keyword before sending, and check the recipient’s line is eligible for it.
PasaData does not work — you need an active GIGA or All Data promo with shareable data remaining, and you must send at least 50 MB. Without an eligible subscription there is nothing to share.
Postpaid transfer refused — you have likely hit your monthly cap (₱300 or ₱500), or you are on a Freedom Plan, which does not support Pasaload.
Your own line is now empty — the honest downside of Pasaload is that generosity is expensive. Every peso you pass on is a peso you no longer have, and a line that runs dry cannot receive calls from home or verify an OTP. If your balance keeps disappearing into other people’s phones, reloading your Smart number online takes under a minute — no store queue, no retailer, and it works even when you are overseas.
A quick recap
Pasaload remains one of the most useful things a Philippine SIM can do. Text PASALOAD, the number and the amount to 808, reply YES within 15 minutes, and you are done — for ₱1. Use PASADATA to share megabytes, or the promo keyword to buy someone a package outright. Just remember the two rules that catch everyone: load only moves within Smart, TNT, Smart Bro and Sun, and shared load expires based on the amount you send.
For everything Pasaload cannot do — reaching a Globe, TM or DITO number, or sending load home from abroad — a direct online top-up fills the gap. And if you are also dealing with a network-locked handset, doctorSIM can unlock your phone so it accepts any Philippine SIM.

Frequently asked questions
How do I pasaload in Smart?
Text PASALOAD, a space, the 11-digit recipient number, a space, and the amount to 808, then reply YES to the confirmation message within 15 minutes. For example: PASALOAD 09181234567 20. A ₱1 fee is deducted from the sender.
How much does it cost to pasaload in Smart?
₱1 per successful transaction, charged to the sender on top of the amount sent. Sending ₱20 therefore costs ₱21. The recipient pays nothing.
Can I pasaload from Smart to Globe?
No. Pasaload only works within Smart, TNT, Smart Bro and legacy Sun numbers. Globe and TM run a separate billing system, and Globe discontinued its own Share-A-Load service on 1 December 2022. To send credit to a Globe number you need a direct online top-up service instead.
Can I pasaload Smart using *123#?
Not reliably. Smart’s official Pasaload methods are SMS to 808 and the Smart App. The *123# menu is mainly TNT’s self-service code and often shows no Pasaload option on Smart SIMs. If you prefer a menu, use your phone’s SIM Toolkit instead.
What is the minimum amount I can pasaload in Smart?
₱2. Prepaid SMS transfers are generally capped at ₱200 per transaction, while the Smart App supports larger single transfers.
How long is pasaload credit valid?
It depends on the amount: ₱2–₱10 lasts 3 days, ₱15–₱30 lasts 15 days, ₱60–₱100 lasts 30 days, and ₱200 lasts 60 days. Larger transfers last significantly longer.
How do I share data instead of load?
Use PasaData: text PASADATA, a space, the 11-digit number, a space, and the amount in MB to 808, for example PASADATA 09181234567 50MB. You need an active GIGA or All Data promo with shareable data, the minimum share is 50 MB, and the shared data is valid for 24 hours.
Why does my Smart pasaload keep failing?
The usual causes are insufficient balance (remember the extra ₱1 fee), missing the 15-minute YES confirmation window, using the +63 format instead of the 11-digit 09 format, sending to a Globe, TM or DITO number, or — for postpaid users — hitting the monthly cap or being on a Freedom Plan, which does not support Pasaload.
Can Smart postpaid subscribers pasaload?
Yes. Smart Postpaid, Smart Signature and Smart Infinity subscribers must include the PASALOAD keyword and are limited to fixed denominations up to ₱500. A monthly cap applies: ₱300 for plans with an MSF of ₱1,200 or below, and ₱500 above that. The cap resets on the 1st of each month. Freedom Plan subscribers are excluded.
Is Sun pasaload still separate from Smart?
No. Sun Prepaid was rebranded to Smart Prepaid in October 2020 and Sun Postpaid became Smart Signature in April 2022. Sun numbers still work, but a transfer to one is now simply a normal Smart-to-Smart pasaload.
