what model is my iphone

Have you ever asked yourself this question: “What model is my iPhone?”. How about this one: “What iOS version do I have on my iPhone?”.

Well, actually, if you’re here, it’s because you’ve been trying to find the answer for a while and you still haven’t figured it out… And we don’t blame you for that at all! It’s not always as easy as it seems.

But worry no more! Because in this article you’ll learn a couple of very handy tricks to figure it out. And as we always do, it’ll be as quickly and easily as possible.

Here we go!

How to know my iPhone model by looking at it in the Settings Menu?

You can learn this very easily just by looking at it in the settings menu… If you know where to find it, of course!

All you have to do is to follow this path:

What model is my iPhone?
Settings > General > Information

Here you will see some info, like:

  • Name: the name you have given to your iPhone
  • Model name: the trade name of your iPhone
  • Model number: the number associated with the model of your iPhone, which determines its technical specifications
  • Serial number: the unique number of your device

The one you need to know if, for example, you want to unlock your iPhone, is “model name”; in the example you can see in the image, it would be “iPhone 12 Pro”.

How to know my iPhone model by looking directly on the device?

If it is an iPhone 7 or an earlier model you can check the model printed on the back of the device.

If, on the other hand, you have an iPhone 8 or a higher model, you will be able to check this information in the slot where the SIM tray is inserted. In order to do so you will have to first remove the tray shown in the image.

How to know what version of iOS I have installed on my iPhone?

Ha! This is easy. Just do the exact same thing we mentioned before. Follow this path:

What my iOS version?
Settings > General > Information

Now you have to look where it says “Software version”; there you can check the version of iOS your iPhone is running on, a.k.a. the operating system for iPhone or iPod Touch devices.

We hope you found this article useful and that you were able to find out what you were looking for.
